YORK -- John M. Anderson, 77, Retired Purchasing Agent of York, died at 2:38 p.m. Sunday at York Hospital. He was the husband of Arlene H. (Henry) Anderson. The couple observed their 53rd wedding anniversary in June.
The service will be 11 a.m. Wednesday at Messiah United Methodist Church, 1300 N. Beaver St., York. Burial will be in Susquehanna Memorial Gardens. Viewing will be 10 to 11 a.m. Wednesday at the church. The Heffner Funeral Chapel and Crematory Inc., 1551 Kenneth Road, York, is in charge of arrangements.
Mr. Anderson was born March 23, 1918, in Ridgway, Elk County. He was the son of the late Gustof O. and Catharine M. (Mitchell) Anderson.
He was a purchasing agent at Sylvania Electric and Yorktowne Kitchens, retiring in 1980.
A member of Messiah United Methodist Church, he was on the church choir, and was a former superintendent of the Sunday School. He was a member of American Association of Retired Persons.
Mr. Anderson also is survived by a son, Barry L. Anderson of Dover; four grandchildren; and a brother, Charles L. Anderson of Pittsburgh.
Officiating at the service will be his pastor, the Rev. Dr. Calvin H. Cole.
